I have a 1994 bronco that just had the engine rebuilt. After 3 months of running great it started sputtering and backfireing. I replaced the fuel pump and filter. I next replace the EGR valve line because i notice it was rusted and broken. After I replaced the line I took it for a small test drive and when I pulled up to my house the back side of the engine started on fire. PLEASE Help. My wife is gonna kill me if I put much more money in to this truck.
A local guy did the work. It was a rebuild using the same block with different heads. I checked the codes and it just gave an air flow error.
The only thing left is to get rid of the catalytic conv. and check the emission crossover on the rear side of engine. Got any Ideas?
what codes did you get? please post them up. did you count the flashes or use a code reader?
again what is your fuel pressure and what is your timeing set at with the spout removed?
what heads are on there? anything else done to the motor like a cam upgrade? headers etc..?
Everything Kem has asked is important and will be the ONLY way to the root of this issue.
Oh and arbitrarily removing emissions equipment will do NOTHING but screw things up further! EEC-IV computer has this equipment too well integrated to just start yanking it off the truck.
