Higher MPG possible?

I just installed a new Magnaflow catback system single in single out behind tire exit. Before system change I was averaging 15 mpg. When I made the change there was a bout a half tank of gas. I finally refilled and got a new tank fill in the other day... the new mpg was 17.4.... is that right. I was not really expecting a significant jump in mpg as that. I am just wondering if that was a fluke. I have about a quarter tank left with 270 miles on it... will be curious on what it is at the next fill up... Anyone else get a significant increase like that?? Still optimistic but will report what the next fill up is!

Might be a fluke. The cat back will certainly help flow, but usually it won't allow for a 20% increase in fuel efficiency. Maybe you had some additional highway miles on that tank?
Keep us up to date on that one.

Also, which Magnaflow system did you get? How's the incab noise level?

Not sure.. I did have a few more highway miles on it.. but this next tank full should be a good indication.. more or less like my normal routine!

I installed the 16518.. noise in the cab is noticeable at first, but now it is not since it has been installed for a little bit. There is noise there, but nothing to complain about! Sounds good... Got on it a few times just to hear it.

Have also noticed that the throttle response and speed is better... seems strange too... Almost seems like has gotten some new boost of power.. almost like new!

Good to know about the noise levels. I had a FlowMaster on my V8 powered Explorer and the drone was bad at times. That would be my biggest concern, in cab drone at cruising speeds.

Flowmaster drone is terrible! Had one on a 4.0l Jeep and for a daily driver it was so annoying! You would never want to take a trip in it!
