my 93 tranny took a crap....picked up one out of a 90 bronco with same engine as my F-350. It has supposedly been rebuilt about a year ago. My question is.....is it possible to tell if a shift kit was installed?....I will be pulling horses and a 16' trailer full of wood from time to time and want to add a shift kit....also...since it came out of a 90....is it the same tranny as my 93? The transfer case that came with it looks different because it looks like it uses a speedo cable where as my 93 is electronic speedo...thanx

Transmission should be the same. Up to `91 the speedo was cable driven, from `92 it was electronic and signaled from the sensor on the rear diff, so your speedo doesn`t need the cable connection.
The only way I can think of to check for a shift kit is to pull the valve body and dismantle it.
Best shift improver is to get a Punisher valve body.
