I bought some 2005 Signal tow mirrors on ebay a month ago. Today I noticed the LEDs on the left mirror wernt on while I was driving. When I got home I investigated. They would come on if the key was in accessory, but would turn off when in the "ON" position. Also, when they did illuminate only 2 signal LEDs would illuminate 100% and the others would be very dim.
I contacted the seller and requested a refund. I ended up having to open a case against the seller and he was VERY rude. He claimed inconsistnacies in my message (all of which were wrong. Which could be proven by just looking at my message and the item description). Then I tried to explain what was going on and he tried to convince me that the mirrors dont have LEDs, and that it takes one "regular bulb." At this point I was just p****d off.. How can a seller not even know what the item he is selling is like. Keep in mind this seller somehow has 1000+ feedback. I have escalated the case to a claim and it is in eBay's hands now..
This isnt the first problem I've had with these mirrors.
1st-They came with gloss black covers instead of the textured ones they were supposed to.
2nd-Some plastic tabs on the covers were broken when I got them.
3rd-One cover was clearly used. It had severe scuff marks.
They sent me a partial refund for those things of about $25. They also tried to convince me that "the covers arnt gloss black, they are primed to be painted"
ummm.. noo..
The following picture will illustrate EVERYTHING I have mentioned in this post. It was taken when it was first installed. You can see the scuff mark and the LEDs which are not "regular bulbs"
My own experience on eBay has been a mixed bag. Some of the stuff I have purchased has been better than advertised, but most has been slightly worse. The mirrors I ordered some time back were supposed to fit my truck and they do mount using the standard hardware, but the wiring doesn't match up and I have to modify it.
Like everything else in the world, some good and some bad, I guess.
What's that saying .... caveat emptor ..... buyer beware. I have bought a $15K boat off eBay with no issues but also have had issues with other purchases. I think the key is to weigh the risk against how confident you are in the seller.

I guess we all have our own opinions of Ebay. I think Ebay is awesome, but there are some things I would not buy. If the mirrors are not OEM, then you get what you pay for, regardless of where you bought them. Someone is always posting in the forums about how thier aftermarket mirrors don't work right.
I hope you can get your problem straightened out. If you get your money back, you might want to consider a set of OEM mirrors. Some people might say that OEM costs more, but it's well worth it.
Here is the name of the place that I bought my mirror kit from when I replaced my mirrors. He beats anybody's price. Szott Ford- 248-634-4411, ask for the parts department, and then ask for Dave. Dave will take care of you. This Ford dealer is in Michigan, and even with shipping he beats any OEM price. I buy all of my OEM stuff from him, and I live in Florida. And just so you know, I found Dave on Ebay. He sells on there all the time. Good luck.

If you bought aftermarker tow mirrors to replace your sport mirrors, then you don't get the wiring harness adaptor. I replaced my sport mirrors with the OEM tow mirror kit, and it came with the wiring harness adaptor for both mirrors. I believe the tow mirrors came with a different wiring harness, so when you bought your aftermarket mirrors, they were sold to you as a replacement mirror, and not an upgrade. A replacement mirror is just that, it replaces the same thing that was allready there. If you had tow mirrors and replaced them with the tow mirros that you bought, they would have plugged right in. So you really shouldn't complain about the mirrors you bought. Ford might even sell the wiring harness adaptor by itself, I don't know.
You got unauthorized Chinese knockoff mirrors, the scary thing is these people are now selling turbos, and they have NUKES!!!!! CAVEAT.....EMPTOR!!!! Buy USA = KEEP OUR JOBS and GET OUR QUALITY!!!!!

I bought tow to replaced tow. Had a broken mirror. Repalcement is exactly the same mirror, but the plugs does not match up. Not really a big deal, but given it was supposed to be an exact replacement, I expected an exact replacement. The listing is for my truck and is the correct year and model.
I both buy and sell on eBay, so I respect the pluses, but also would respectfully suggest there are limitations that are not due to buyer mistakes. I have received items that do not work in the past and would also note, within my own area of expertise, RVs, there are many items listed incorrectly on eBay.
I do think your comment about OEM products is good advice!

Thanks for your thoughts,

Well, I was wrong in assuming you were doing an upgrade. Since you did a replacement you have a reason to complain. I think there are some bad sellers on Ebay. I guess doing our homework before we buy is a good idea. Asking for more pictures might be agood idea when considering a purchase. Buying anything site unseen from wherever is a risk. I will always recommend OEM. Thanks for clarifying.

I've bought and sold over 400 items on eBay and can truly say I've only had 3 bad deals but I'm now very careful who I buy from.
One of the bad deals cost me about 400.00 due to the seller packing chrome Harley parts like crap then accusing me of lying.
Back in the beginning eBay was a much better deal but now with their inflated fees it gets too costly to sell anymore....I try to stick to craigslist and deal locally.
I still buy occasionally but only if its a killer deal.
I bought $60,000 motorhome on ebay, that was located 3000 miles away and several Mercedes cars. Have over 300 successful transactions. Had couple of brushes with dishonest sellers, but show me a business that don't have those?
So you bought the mirrors that you don't like and you decided to keep them with $25 discount -instead of sending them back? How-come this is ebay fault?

I had already promised my old mirrors to someone who was expecting them and it was more important to me to keep a fellow FTE member happy than to nitpick over the covers being the wrong cover.
The problem with e-bay is it is seller driven! So all the feed back scores and seller vetting is skewed twords the sellers and that leave the buyers out in the cold when a dispute arises, you might just as well use craigslist for the help you will get from e-bay!
