Ok, so "I'm not a smart man" quote from one of my favorite movies I re-read the mh manual and ended up crawling under the truck so I could see what lever controlled what! Lol.

Just got back from a cruise through the neighborhood, other than all the little kids running and screaming for their momma's jk. it went great. Speed limit was 25 and I was at least doing that plus still had more pedal and one more gear so I'm set... As long as I can do 35-40 I'm happy.
And speaking of going slow and what good were they for? Well I don't ever take my 45 GPW over 45 mph because I don't think it can, and those jeeps made winning the war possible and some of the rural mountain folk probably would never have
had telegraph service if it weren't for trucks like this one

I got a laugh out of a phrase in the manual about ordering parts and it said you could telegraph your order in love It!!!

Just got to figure out the wiring for headlights and brakes now, guess I should have ordered a truck manual already

I think I am overlooking the fact that there wasn't a need for these trucks to go 70 mph. The drove rural roads or no roads at all to access crazy places and do dirty work.

Good point, I still think I'm going to put a triangle sign on the back of this truck, like the farmers put on tractors, "slow moving vehicle".

I like driving my jeep, whole world seems to slow down, excepting the cars wizzing by me lol. Just got to find the slower less crowded streets.

Yeah I was driving today on the freeway, far below the speed limit, I might have been going 45.....i know it was wrong and rude, but I really didn't feel like taking surface streets or pushing the truck to waste more gas.

I didn't mind it at all.....but man were there a lot of pissed off people. Some guy in a newer diesel dodge flew by me, swerved over onto an offramp like a wildman, and right as the back of his truck passed my front, he obviously intentionally floored his truck sending a plume of black smoke right into me as he sped off.

Another day, another pissed off driver; what else is new.

so??? low range or was pto engaged? don't expect much more than 50 out of it. i use a combo weight oil in all boxes and rears. 90-110-140. it stays outside, and in 10 degree weather, i don't want to try turning 140 oil. things tend to run a bit dry until oil warms up. i'm not using my marmon much anymore, and, am considering letting go and getting a solid flat fender to play with.

Glad Pete had an answer on the fluids question. I've not installed mine yet after Chuck did the rebuilds and will have to ask him myself what he used/recommends. Stu

stu, your front axle is a little different than mine. i will assume your steer joints, (knuckles), will be bathed in gear lube? mine are greased. this should work for you, but, check with chuck. let me know.
