180 degees. I went with a Stewart EMP hi-po from Summit racing. That and the Summit hi-po water pump totally changed the cooling characteristics of my 428 CJ for the good.

Do Not Use the Flow Kooler Pump!! I tried it and the accessory bolt holes did not line up. Had to send it back.

well I probably won't be buying a new water pump as of right now because I have no reason to believe the on there is bad, but thanks for the info on the thermostat! I don't know for sure yet because I haven't taken the old one out yet, but i'm sure it could be replaced. Same goes for the fluid, just regular antifreeze or anything specific?

I changed them both at the same time so I don't know if one made more of a change than the other or if a combo. Happy with the results however since in the summer we have no prob. being in the 90's or 100's.

did you use the 50/50 mix or straight antifreeze? granted you can just add water to the straight coolant to make 50/50 i guess

I just use the Stant brand 180* and drill one 1/8" in the outer ring and install with hole at 12:00. Nothing fancy here.

I always use 50-50 mix year round here on the crusty coast. With the aluminum rad I use distilled water.

I use 50/50 Prestone and why not use something engineered instead of drilling holes in something.

Is it alright to use water from the hose out back from the house? It's just the stock radiator I believe. The guy I bought the truck from last year said something like a 3 or 4 core which shouldn't mean anything about water to use.

Hard water and terbidity can cause cooling system problems. Your choice, your truck. Distilled water is so cheap, why chance it?
