Hose came off

Truck has been running great (2005 SD CC 4x4 DRW). Yesterday, I was being an idiot...and was winding it out a little...then heard a loud "pop". Pulled into a parking lot, and a blue silicone type hose came off. This is on the passenger side right next to the radiator (near the front of the truck). It is/was connected to an aluminum pipe about 2 1/2" in diameter. Had no tools to put it back on...so I limped it back to work (prolly 3 miles). No boost...super loud turbo noise...and some black smoke. Truck had trouble getting outta its own way..lol. Put it all back together, and it runs fine. Cleared the CEL. What pipe is that ? What caused it ? Is there a better clamp and hose ? Thanks guys.

Inter cooler (CAC) hose. They get coated inside with oil and sometimes blow off. You may need a new clamp. If the hose or any others are weeping oil through the pores of the hose it's time to replace them. Use new clamps and keep the old ones for roadside emergencies. Spray the inside edge of the hoses with hair spray. It will help them grip.

There is an updated hose clamp. I had to replace them on my 6.0 after blowing a boot off and never had a problem after that. Great advice above, replace all of the clamps!
