i have recently changed out my 360 to a 390 on my 1975 f-150 4 x 4. it starts right up , idles great, timing is set right, but when i put it in gear ( oh, by the way it's an automatic) it makes this really high pitched whinning noise which sounds like it's coming from under the dashboard. and it doesn't seem to want to go above 35-40 mph. i'm not all that familiar with automatic's and this is the first time i have done an engine replacement, and i tried to make sure i took my time and didn't forget anything. but i am at a loss ??? can someone give me some ideas as to what might be the problem ???? much appreciated!!!

engine's don't shift,Transmissions do
try adding some tranny fluid type F
First check to make sure that it does or does not need more
Start the engine and let it warm up . once the engine is warm put the transmission in all of the gears and then back into park
You check the level in park with the engine running hot
See what happens it seems to me that you are low on tranny fluid
Remember only TYPE F fluid !
