I have a '93 Ford F150 with tow package. We pull a horse trailer with it. About 2 weeks ago, I began losing my trailer lights. For the past 3 days, I have replaced the trailer wiring, lights, pigtail, pigtail receptor and T One wiring harness. I've checked my grounds and they seem good. I've got tail lights and turn signals on the truck itself but can't get any juice to the trailer wiring. Any assistance would be welcome.
Check the ground wires
(White wire? from the car 7 way connector)
I had the same problem and realize the ground wire wasn't making proper contact
cheers
I got underneath and took the ground wire off. I really cleaned the frame good with a wire brush and degreaser. This seemed to work. I got lights again.
Now I'm thinking of all the money I spent on all the other things. Uggh
I spent an hour trying to get a turn signal to work on a simple old ulitity trailer. Replaced bulb, replaced sections of wire and finally put on a whole new turn signal unit. I was too stupid to even notice the same side signal on the truck wasn't working the whole time!
A simple .50 cent replacement of a blown fuse in the main fuse box fixed the whole thing.
I know what ya mean. It seems like I always think of the "worst case scenario" first instead of thinking of the simpler things. My wife calls it "typical male syndrome"...lol.
