Keyless entry code (instructions and string)
I hear everyone say "just look for the decal with the code", but folks don't realize that not all rigs have the decal (especially the 2000 model year), so that is why a lot of 2000 owners are frustrated looking for a decal that doesn't exist.
As for the question (how do I know the 1st digit, etc.?), you don't get any indication of the first digit being correct, only the last. So you start punching in digits (say ...1935915) and then one digit pops the lock. Let's say it's the 5. You count backwards in the string 4 numbers (in my example the 3) and that was your starting digit. Re-lock the doors and punch in 35915 and the doors should open.
Now, that would be one of the two possible codes. IF THAT CODE DOESN'T LET YOU PROGRAM A NEW CODE, then you found the customer code (not the master) so you would count back 4 digits (in this example the first 5) and keep going until the next code is found (the master). That is how mine ended up working.
In 2001 or 2002 Ford changed the settings to lock out the keypad after something like 30 numbers. For a 2000 you can enter numbers all day long with no stops. For those that have the lock out, when they hit the lock out they need to cycle the ignition, then go back 4 numbers from where they were locked out and continue the process. However, those that have the lock out PROBABLY have the master code somewhere in the truck on that sticker everyone keeps saying "just look for".
This method is primarily for those without the sticker and if done correctly can be completed in 10-15 minutes with no tools.

SHAZAM : BOBIDA BOOM BOBIDA BING : I'm sadly reporting that I did not really time the event BUT I can most assuredly say that : it took me longer to print the codes & get ready that it took to get my master code !!!
I had it in hand before I had completed 10 lines of the sequence !! WOW
THIS SITE ROCKS
AND THANKS AGAIN
I'll need to fix the drivers door actuator before & can get the 2nd one done

FWIW, I needed an extra key, and for $125 labor(archaic system takes WAY too much time) and the cost of 2 keys(2nd one no extra labor), they threw in the here's your master key code for "free".
Can someone please go back to the original post and edit it.
If you're erasing a personal code you must start this procedure with the doors unlocked.
thanks a bunch though, i found my door code. Think i lost feeling in my thumb along the way.

I was about ready to give up on my 2000 Ex. Got most of the way through and then my lock popped. I was moving quickly and I was maybe 25 minutes in. It was the factory code. I'm guessing a PO never programmed their personal code. Either way I erased them if there was one.
Bad news is it took me longer than average to find my code. Good news is if anyone tries to use this sequence to get the code I've got nearly a half hour to spot them!

Lol, if they can figure out how to reverse the sequence and keep my number in its spot they will have definitely earned their entry in to it.
Ex 12345 will be 54321. Even if you do it one line at a time bottom up you will need to repeat the last 4 from the above line or you will miss the first 4 digits in the sequence. So it would be much more efficient overall to go top to bottom (assuming one has no idea where there code is in the sequence)
That is why I said if one can figure out how to do it exactly backwards using the same number layout with mine at the end they deserve entry.
