New steering gear, all tie rods new, balljoints good........still loose in the front.......ordered new polyurethane pivot bushings, sway bar and strut arm bushings..........will this cure it ?
No rag joint on anything newer than about 87 if my memory serves. Somebody help me here.
Axle pivot bushings... they keep the two halves of the TTB axle aligned under the front end. Crushed/wallowed bushings will allow wander and steering slop. Just had this conversation in not so many words in another thread. Radius arm bushings should be looked at as well.
Advance auto.......lifetime warranty.....was a good looking part......orignally got a Cardone from o'reilly's.....looked bad from the start........it broke before I got it bled out......very happy with the advance part......good rebuilt part all ports and thteads protected.....the Cardone that broke omly had a paper im it telling me the 5000 ways you can void the warranty....
Is your camber right? after replacing EVERYTHING in my frontend I've decided it's a mixture of off-camber and the fact that a big ford truck just isn't ever going to be super tight in the frontend.
TRW on the front tie rods..........I might do a redhead on my Excursion.......but I can't see spending that much on the Bronco.........I hear they are excellent but it would cost about 1/3 of what I got in the Bronco......bought it to trail ride in and scratch up/get muddy....all the bushings are replaced......strut rod......and pivot bushings.....the pivots were tough and not for the faint of heart or tool deficient......good stuff from energy suspension though........also stuck in a new set of Moog front coils.....way better !......and highly recommend those...the old springs had less coils and were shorter......these look like they are progressive springs.......and act that way as well

Ah but do keep in mind that its when the trail rig fails that you end up "furthest" from the parts store. If the Excursion breaks down on the highway, you call the auto club and they get you going or tow it. Dragging a dead full-size Bronco off a one-lane trail in the mountains isn't exactly what "roadside assistance" is for... and they will be the first to tell you that.
If anythin id skimp on the pavement pounder before the mud toy. You're basically testing the limits on the trail. A smart car can handle the highway...so I think your excursion would be fine with trw. Just my. 02

You are pretty close to me......maybe you can come pull me out hehehe !!
The "pavement pounder" is actually pretty capable.......but big....I need to update the pic and info on it I guess......
it's not about capability.. in your Excursion I'm sure you have seat covers, people aren't allowed to eat in it, you get it shampood and washed every 3 days, that kinda thing.. your Bronco needs that care in other areas, get in with your muddy feet but trust me, skimp on a TRE or steering box and you WILL regret it.
I know this from experience.. nothing tests a part more than going offroading.
I bought an AZ tie rod end on one side, it rolled and acted dumb, didn't fit right, the bushing split and it looked old after maybe a month? Then I bought a Moog for the other end.. night and day difference, they're almost completely different parts. The Bronco will be a vehicle you are *constantly* fixing if you don't do it right and buy decent parts in the first place..
I'm at the point now where I've replaced every single part in mine with cheap autoparts store parts, and now it runs worse than I got it and I'm in the process of replacing those autopart store parts with Motorcraft.
