Eight months ago i bought an 89 ford f-250, since then i put a new engine in due to cavitation and had the transmission rebuilt, i had the transmittion rebuilt because it had a laging-hard-late shift, it also doesn't down shift at highway speeds under throttle, the guy who rebuilt the transmission said it needed it"the rebuild" but something not in or on the tranny was the cause of the shifting problem, what to do.

you need to let someone look at it that knows about the outside as well as the inside. There is a lenghty adjustment procedure for the (fipl) TP but to make it short i set them at 1.14 volts with eng running. This can be a real pain if the loctite hasnt been broken loose yet. Really on a diesel the (fipl) TP should be replaced after any overhaul due to all the vibration as well as the MLP sensor as they both give trouble.
