im new to this forum and i have a question for anybody. this seems like a very reliable forum thats why im here. im currently thinking about purchasing a 54 f600 from a local junk yard. im not a huge fan on the larger trucks and was curious if that was the same body as whats on a regular half ton or f 100. the truck body is in beautifal shape and was gna put it on a newer ford truck chassis (if all the dimensions work out). so my questions is the body pretty much the same from rear window to the front bumber. thanks.
If it's not a cab over, everything is the same except the hood side emblems, running boards and fenders. But if you don't want the fenders feel free to send them my way!
And as far as swapping the body onto a newer chassis goes. Good luck with that! It's not a simple task, click the link in my signature. The newer chassis has the engine set back quite a bit farther. The wheel base on newer trucks is different. Mounting the cab and front clip is also a little bit of an issue.
You are better off using the stock chassis ( or finding one from the same age F100 ) and adding the newer drivetrain and suspension to it.
There are minor differences on the fender Like being slightly wider at the lower front edge where they bolt onto the valance. And then they are longer (drop lower ) at the bottom rear of the fenders. And then there are the wheel well openings. The F600 has a much larger opening. It's a wider and taller opening. Check out my build thread I'm using F600 fenders on my F100.
That being said there is no problem pulling a F600 fender and bolting on a F100 fender.
