I have a 1999 F250SD. I have no temperature control for heat or A/C, currently stuck in full heat. I found that I am blowing fuse #24 in the fuse box underneath the steering wheel. Fuse #24 supplies the blend door and the trailer tow charge relay coil according to the owners manual. Replaced fuse and it blew again. Disconnected the blend door motor (located behind glove box) and blew fuse again. The trailer tow relay is supposed to be in the fuse box in the engine compartment in position 39. I do not have this relay, my fuse box actually only has 38 positions. My truck does not have an OEM installed tow package so is it safe to say I dont have this relay or is it somewhere else? And is there anything else I can look at to see why I am blowing the fuse or am I screwed and its a short in the wiring harness and I'm gonna have to pull the dash out to find it? Thanks in advance.
F24 feeds the BDA, the trailer charge relay, and the mode switch for the climate control. Via the mode switch, when set in any position that calls for compressor operation, it also feeds the series circuit of the high and low pressure switches and the compressor clutch.
First thing to do is determine WHEN the fuse blows. Start with the mode switch in OFF and see if it blows when the ignition switch is turned to RUN.
Thanks for the response "project". Went out and bought a Haynes manual, I see what your talking about, as far everything else fuse 24 supplies. The way one part is drew up is slightly confusing, the 2000-01 gas is different then the 1999 gas (which is the same as the 2000-01 diesel) its all on one page. Do you know about the tow relay, do I have one since I dont have an OEM tow package? The only thing I see in the Haynes manual shows a 2002 Excursion. Im off to softball. Again thanks.
