E4OD tranny shifting hard
#32
I have noticed that two of the pictures that actually show the resistance values have been removed. Dont know what happened there. Anyway, it has gotten worse the last couple of days so I pulled codes again yesderday and got the 122 again. So I guess I will buy the FIFTH TPS and put it on. This is rediculous.
I dont think I have broken wire between the TPS and the computer. A few years ago my PCM got burned up. Long story short, I suspect it was the TPS that shorted or something and fried the ECU. So I took the whole harness apart across the engine to the big connector on the drivers inner fender well and did not find anything wrong. That is when I was researching about buying certain sensors from the cheap stores and was told that the TPS should be an OE part. So that is what NAPA told me the last one was. Anyway, I am just saying that I dont think I have a break in any of the wires, so it must be the TPS itself? This time I am going to try to get one from FORD.
Another thing. Are there "other" codes that only a tranny shop can pull or do ALL codes including tranny codes get read from the ECU? The code reader I have is ACTRON (I think) and I have never had a tranny code even so that is always my problem.
Thanks for reading my novel!

Im not sure I even need them. I probably need to replace the TPS first and get that taken care of then go from there. If it is still acting up, I will have to take it to a tranny shop anyway because I dont know what else to do any more. I have not found any problems with the two wiring harnesses along the frame rail or any of the engine wiring harness. It does seem to act like an electrical problem because sometimes it runs fine, but I dont know any more.

I replaced the TPS with one from FORD. It actually has the ford part number on the side of it unlike the one I bought from NAPA that was suppose to be OE. Anyway, I set it to .94V and so far it has worked great and I have had no transmission problems, yet. I have only drove it maybe 20 miles with starting it about 4 or 5 times (sometimes it would work great until I stopped for gas or something then acted up after restart).
I guy at work has installed fuel injection on his 68 camaro and he said he set up the TPS with the engine running because the voltage would be a little different with the alternator running. Every place I have read about our FORD trucks say to just have the key on and engine off. Of course with mine, the TPS is on the bottom of the throttle body anyway.
Hopefully this fixed it, but I since I have replaced the TPS 5 times, I am not very optimistic.
Thanks for all the help guys.

So far so good! I have been working on another problem so I have not drove the truck that much, but the transmission is shifting perfectly.
I am definately sold on only buying a FORD TPS. I can not express this enough. I know they are more money (sometimes twice as much) but at least they are quality enough to work correctly.
Thanks for all the help.
