excess smoke??

i have a 97 f350 cc lb. when i put my dp tuner in awhile ago i realized i got a good amount of smoke well on throttle..in all settings but stock, so i am wondering if there is something i can do besides a re-burn, i should try unplugging the map sensor and running it but since it doesn't smoke in all settings i don't know if that is to blame..any ideas on where to look would be great.. thanks.. oh it has a fairly clean k&n in it right now, soon to be the 6637 mod from riffraff when it comes in the mail thanks again for all input!

I dont like smoke either.

Check the map hose for cracks or plugs.

if its good, unplug the map and see if there is any difference.

so i just inspected the map hose all is well there. i took it for a spin with and without sensor plug in back to back, sad to say no real difference in smoke or power,i do have the gray bodied sensor though and from what i read parts numbers and all it is he wrong one..? so is it worth getting the right one? even though i saw no real change with this one unplugged?
Thanks again

If you unplugged the MAP Sensor and it made no difference, then replacing it most likely won't make a difference either.

I was messing around last night and took the map sensor out and no more smoke than usual. My truck is also parked with a toarn apart rear diff lol can you only tell a difference while driving if the map is bad? I want to replace as much as I can now before it's going down the road again.

I would think you have to be driving the truck to notice a difference.

What boost numbers are you seeing?

Also on the MAP color be careful because the bracket holding the sensor in place is gray and it's hard to see the actual MAP black color. There is some false information out there on the correct part number(s).

thanks for the replies guys, jim (hussler) my map sensor looks just like yours black on the face and grey housing, part number f4tf-9s480-aa i believe from another post you had posted on that i read that is the incorrect sensor? but like i said no real differnece with it unplugged so i don't really know where to look now, or maybe just get the right sensor??as far a boost numbers go i typically when stepping on it lightly i see 8-10 but if i really get on it it can climb to 19ish but that is around 3k.. i have some dirtiness going on on my y pipe connections i plan on taking all that apart and giving a good cleaning when i put the new intake setup on. any other ideas ofrthings to look for would be great!! sorry for the long post
Thanks

Just to clarify because I am second guessing myself, when I say y pipe I am refering to the black pipe that attaches to the front of the turbo and branches to 2 points to the top of the motor, the base of those are very dirty..also anyone know where to get the new couplings for that?

Clay at riffraff sells the boots for the ypipe. They are 2 3/8 on the ypipe end to 2 inch on the plenum end boots.

if he doesn't have an ic then the boots will be straight 2 inch if he has an ic setup with the early 99 spyder then the boots will be 2 3/8 to 2 inch
