Deciding on window set up.

Ok so i'd really like some opinions here. So I've been doing a lot of research and i've found several different ways to have power windows. One way is to go with one of the after market power window kits, which is fine and dandy but they are very expensive.

Another way is this, I found a link that shows how to adapt saturn window motors to the manual regulators we all have. it requires a small amount of cutting to the regulators but it fits and works. The quality of this set up all depends on how you wire it. nice in clean or quick and ugly. Also is opens up different options for window switches, staying with the factory saturn switches, adapting my own, adapting some ford switches from another year. Also i would have to mount them in either my center consol or my actual door, and drill holes , not good.

And finally I found switches for an older camaro that keeps the stock camaro window cranks but has an electronic tap switch behind it acting as the swtch itself. Problem with this is I would have camaro window cranks and i want the stock ford ones.

To be honest I want to know what you guys have done with yours if you have power windows. The best experience comes from the people that have done it. So i'm all ears if someone wants to lend me a hand.

Im honestly leaning towards the saturn set up then buying the door handle crank switches for the camaro. But i have issues with that, can i adapt ford window cranks to the switches made for the camaro window cranks? And the window motors of this set up mounts the window motors where the crank is. It technically removes the window crank shaft and the window motor teeth make direct contact with the regulator teeth. and the problem with that is, is where the motor mounts may not have enough room if the window crank switch is in the same spot. Id like to keep the stock plastic door panels but if i have to i can make custom ones.

Basically it comes down to your "issues." I went the more expensive route. A-1 Electric They also have a switch for using stock window crank. Maybe you could buy just that piece.

Golden Rodtronics has resto switches, that allow you to keep the same handles and they work with any electric window setup. The added feature of the GR setup is you double tap the drivers side, and the passengers side goes down or up.

Yes the A1 kit replaces the original regulator. Very simple install. I mounted switches in a console on my second one. The first one I mounted in the door, but the guy that bought that truck from me was rather large and kept hitting the switches with his knee. Kept blowing out the fuse. LOL
