I have an 05 F-250 that I will be using to tow my new camper. I have never had a trailer with brakes so I will now be adding a brake controller. Is there a plug under the dash to plug into? My truck came with an adapter plug but I have no idea where it goes! Help!!!!
Do a search on here, it will really help! They are below the radio next to the upfitters or your cubby for your phone or wallet. It is really simple and like he said above it is plug and play!
On a 2000 F250 the connector is not where everyone seems to think it is. My trailer connector was directly in the center of the truck attached to the firewall, about 4" above the carpet behind the center console.
I had to take the garbage bag/purse hook and reach in through there. I will get pictures of it because I couldn't find anyone else who has a connector like mine.
Also I bought a Prodigy P2, from etrailer.com which had some good install videos. The P2 is way better than my Dad's cheap delay controller on his F150.
The P2 you have to go thru too many steps to change the settings.
P3 now is all digtal and everything is right there.
Wait, what? The thing has 3 controls, [Power ****][Manual Lever][Boost toggle button]
It took less than 5 minutes to setup the controller to the right settings for what felt good on my trailer. I use the P2 all the time with my only trailer and it works fine and is easy to use. Not sure what the P3 gets you that the P2 doesn't have, but ease of use can't be one of them, because it can't get any easier than the P2.

That would be great - I've got the same truck, also need a controller.
I found my connector just on the other side of that metal panel, but I could only reach it through the purse holder cutout thingy.
Also interesting to note is that something on the steering column is wired up using the same connector style. I found a connector near the steering column that was used, but the same shape and style as the brake controller connector.
View through the purse holder into the dash, the metal it is mounted to is visible from the driver side compartment, and I could reach in and touch the connector but not actually push the connectors together.
Closeup of the connector itself.
I havent finished or mounted anything yet. Right now I just have the plastic docking collar on the controller and it wedges perfectly into the small cubby on the left. I think that is where I will end up mounting it permanently... by drilling a hole to hide the wire..
The brake controller plug changed in 2005. It can get confusing, because many suppliers note different part numbers but inconsistently apply them to model years and such. Up to 2004, you want the Tekonsha 3035-P wiring harness. From 2005 to 2007 you want the 3065-P harness, and apparently from 2008 on you want a 3034-P harness.
I got this information here. You might want to check it to make sure you get the right harness.
Funny, my shift lever looked just like that. The wires to the overdrive switch/light were cut in the steering column though, so I ended up just replacing the whole shifter. Wasn't cheap, but not terrible either.
