best tune

sorry guys ive searched and havent got a clear answer. ive got an 07 6.0 straight pipe but bout to order the mbrp 4'' turbo back with 3.5'' downpipe. other than that stock. stock headstuds and all. i just pick up the sct x3. its coming with the archives of all spartans tune to pick from... question is which is the safest to run with motor being stock? i can have fun with more power but leaning towards a mixture of better fuel mileage and power with out tearing my truck up. ive had good luck with it so far with nothing tearing up. anyways i have the option of uploading 3 off the archive of spartan or would it be better to hit up eric for custom tunes? sorry new to tuners

You'd be much better off to get tunes from Matt at Gearheadautomotiveperformance.com or Eric at Innovative Diesel

+1 for Matts tunes. I run his SRL tune (for non-studded trucks), on my studded truck, and love it! This thing is a beast! I dont plan on running a hotter tune, because Im plenty happy with his SRL. You can get 3 tunes for $100. Best way to contact him is via email: matt@gearheadautomotiveperformance.com

I like the race tune but can't use that when towing. The EGTs climb really fast. So I switch to the street tune for towing. I average 17-18 MPGs in the summer mainly highway on the street tune. 13mpgs towing around 8000. I am studded. The street doesn't blow any smoke like the race tune does when you jump on it.

the only thing i tow is max of 1 6x8 trailer and 2 big boy atvs 6-700 lbs a piece so no more than 2k tot lbs of towing. will the race tune be fine for that? also you said you get better mpg on the street tune... what did you get on the race tune? also is the race tune safe for non studded? i see your studded

With the race tune I would get about the same. Last year I did 2400 mile round trip with the family and all our gear and averaged around 17-19 on the race tune. That depended on how fast I was going. The 17 was on the way home and I was running as fast as I could. Traffic jambs slowed me down. I wouldn't run the race tune without studs but that is just me. You will need gauges to monitor the EGTs with a hot tune. I'm not in the gas all the time but the extra power is nice when you need it. When I would drop back to the stock tune it was night and day on the performance. The stock tune sucked and I couldn't wait to put the race or street tune back on.
