Lacking low end power...

So this has been going on for a while...but started getting worse.

I checked my up pipe/y pipe for leaks tried to tighten down the up pipe bolts to the manifolds but they were tight.

I still hear air hissing from somewhere. Really noticeable when I'm cranking the truck over.

Is it possibly my exhaust manifolds leaking?

I remember when I had my driver side head off I noticed a little black soot around cylinder #8. So could it be my problem is getting worse?

I'm still building 30lbs of boost at wot.

Im having the same problem with my 04. Noticed a few cylinders leaking black soot at the manifolds. Truck doesnt seem to be boosting right and done on bottom end power. Does your engine/turbo/exhaust sound any quieter then normal? mine is very quiet. So now im wondering the same thing.

best way to find a leak is with a smoke tester. not something most people have laying around.

did you put exhaust manafold gaskets on when you did the heads? i know they arent needed but i did on mine and my brothers just so i wouldnt have to worry about it

No I didn't but believe me if it needs them I'll be kicking myself for not doing it then.

What causes the manifolds to leak?
