Scrap Yard?
Ive found a 78 or 79 ford truck in a local scrap yard. Ive only seen it from the road its on the hoist still where they drain fluids. I believe its a 4x4, if they will sell it would it be worth buying and parting it out? What are they getting for scrap vehicles? Its all there still looks decent for being a michigan truck standard cab long bed.

Last I checked, in my area whole vehicles were going for $11.00/hundred. That truck will weigh around 4,000lbs. Expect them to want a premium somewhere over that. Worth buying it and parting it out depends on what good parts it has. It is easy to spend more than that on rust repair of a cab. You really can not tell too much about actual condition unless you're up close.

I would say that if they ask $200 - $400 then yes provided you have somewhere you can keep it, but before you do that, are you planing to sell just localy or are you willing to ship. I think that there are several items on the truck that you can sell to get your money back on, but it depends on wheter or not those parts are good, i.e engine trany, transfer case, front & rear end. Then you will still need to haul the scrap that no one wants away and you can sell the scrap back to the salvage yard for metal weight. Seems like a lot for the little return. Bottom line if it was woth anything, I think the salvage yard woould have parted it out. Good luck with your decision.
