Couple questions about engine data values

I was looking at my truck for engine dying with my live data scanner. I looked around on here and other forums for the values of certain perameters and could not find anything useful. Maybe someone here can tell me what they should be...

Exhaust back pressure: 15psi @ idle
IPR duty cycle: 9-40%, depending on how hard I accelerate
ICP: 465-495@ idle, 2877 psi @ full load, oil temp: 195
Voltage Ref Sup: 2.50vdc. (I've always heard it should be 5.0vdc)

Thanks for the input,
Aaron

Hey Aaron exhaust bp I'm not sure seems high to me at idle but I'll check my data when I get home your iCP looks good mine idles 475 on hot oil and 525 on oil that's 20* cold for a stock truck I think 2877psi is good and I'm not sure on what your checking with your voltage ref sup??? Need some more info on what your looking at and I'll hook up my ae and see what the readings are on my truck. How many miles are on the oil ?

More will be along to help with what I couldn't answer right now

Ps. Is your truck stock or chipped ?

Thanks for replying 1979Beast. I am talking about what I am seeing on my Taskmaster for the voltage reference signal. My scanner says it is 2.50 vdc, and I have read it should be 5 vdc. Im just wondering if the PCM is having a problem...
I dont think I have 1,000 miles on my oil right now.
My truck is stock as far as the engine and trans go. I only have suspension and tire upgrades.
Thanks for taking the time to look on your truck.

No problem that's what this site is for bro

What is your truck doing when it dies the reason I ask about the oil is these trucks live off the oil and when you rack up miles on the oil it thins out and breaks down

okay exhaust back pressure on my truck at idle is 14.99
ICP is 476psi
ref voltage is 4.99 your scanner is showing this as 2.5 ??
oil temp is good mine runs 205 on the AE and 190ish on pillar gauge

so it might have some thing to do with the voltage reference signal im not sure cause i really dont no what that is or what a lower voltage would cause someone with better knowledge on what this is will be by shortly but some more info on how the truck reacts when it dies like starts then dies right away or feels like it runs out of fuel (just kind of looses power) does it do it often any kind of a patern ??

sorry i couldnt help ya out more if theres anything else you want me to cross reference let me no ill check it out for ya

Good to know! Thats why I keep coming back!!
Well, the whole story is located here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...liabiltiy.html.
In short, it just shuts off at any time. I have not figured out the secret handshake to make it do it at the precise time I want. I replaced the CPS with the black International one. I checked fuel pressure, a lot of the wiring, and the PCM and IDM relays have been replaced to no avail. I put a gauge on the high pressure oil rail and it matches what my scanner reads. I have asked various people that own and work on these trucks and they have no idea. I have also tried that "ask a Ford expert" site and THEY have not been able to steer me in the right direction as of yet. I am afraid to take it to a dealer and have them tell me either they cant reproduce the problem, or they will charge a gazillion dollars to do the same tests and procedures I already have done. I am just about at a loss, but I WONT give up! Its just a matter of time...

Again, thanks for the help!

My first thought was bad fuel too, but I cant figure out WHY it would go anywhere between a minute or two and 3 HOURS before it would shut down. When it first died I drained some out and smelled it just to make sure I didn't put gasoline in it--I didn't. When it shuts down, it is like someone reaches over and turns the key off. I looked in the fuel bowl and it was clean as a whistle. I even did an extreme test on the fuel system and pulled the fuse for the fuel pump and drove it for a mile! I pulled over and reinstalled the fuse and it "came back to life" I think if I had a problem it would have died almost immediately or been fuel knocking like it ran out of fuel like crazy. I will go out and triple check my VRef, but Im pretty sure it was only 2.5v. I did pull the icp sensor off and check with my Power Probe (voltage tester) and it indicated 5.0v at the plug. I wonder why my scanner is only picking up half that???

Thanks again for all the help
Aaron
