Well, Pop upgraded to a longbed 2wd f-150 after I did in 1989 when I also
upgraded to a shortbed 4x4 f-150. Both of us had 1972 Ford Courier trucks that served us very well! Both of us were planning a move to north Idaho & I beat him to it! In 1990, I had made the move, & mom & pop made the move in 1992. But, his 1982 truck had a rebuilt engine when he bought it. (He used his as a commuter) while my truck was the "huntin-rig" & my work-truck. (Long story short), my truck needed a rebuild in 1998 & his truck engine is (nearly to the point it was) as mine leaked more oil than it burned... until one day it "said no mas" & threw #3 rod @ 289K miles! (The 300 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine was likely the toughest one ever made)!
If not for all the extra smog stuff unlike my local 82 f-150, It would be running now! This weekend will hopefully be the time pop gets to test the new engine! My 4x4 version of an "82" is still what we use as our huntin-rig!
I thought I had lost access to this site! My 1982 4x4 f-150 is still the "tank"it always was, but... Now it needs some work to prevent it from looking like "Mater" from the "Cars Toons"!
WooHoo! I found my old posts, yet they were from june 2011, I know I was here in december when I posted that I figured out what to get Pop for xmas. He is tough to shop for... yet, he had not purchased new plugwires for his new engine. His gift was a set of Napa lifetime warranty gold plugwires!
