Road Trip Adventure

In Jackson Wyoming tonight, have had a little adventure on the way. Son's OBS lost the clutch out of Burns, OR. Called an uncle in Caldwell Idaho, he found a shop that squeezed us into their extremely busy schedule at 8:00 Friday morning, picked it up at 3 in the afternoon.. Anyone in the Nampa-Caldwell area, kudos to Tony and his crew at Demark automotive. We had 1 day to spare for my son to head back country for his training to be a professional hunting guide. I think after this he should find an outfitter that lets his dad hunt for free.

Besides that clutch hangup you and your son made the best of that trip Mark, priceless. Another vote for Dads for free on outings..

Dropped my son at the school base camp today. Tomorrow at 8 they head back country for 4 weeks. Already has a job offer from a local outfitter, before starting school. If I could figure out how to get my pics off of my phone to something beside facebook I would. Both 7.3's averaged right at 17 mpg for this trip. Quite a few miles over 7k in altitude. My son's obs is a manual with 4:10s my is an auto with 3:73. He did better on the passes and roads requiring under 65mph, I made up the difference on the Idaho freeway at 75mph. We start home tomorrow.

Very jealous, Jackson, WY, is gorgeous. Enjoy your time there, look out for the mosquitos, they are relentless.

No bugs yet, too cold. In the high country there is still 6' + snow. Weatherman says rest of the week will be warmer.

Just got home, the old truck averaged just over 17 mpg for the 1987 mile trip. Can't beat these 7.3s. Other than losing the clutch, at 144k, on my son's truck there were no issues. Love the decel tune in the mountains around Jackson!

Sounds like a pretty good trip Mark. What clutch did you go back with? On the road with needing a quick turn around you probably didn't have many choices.

It was a luk clutch, don't know until I look at the receipt which model, or if they have more than 1. Will have to look also for the brand on the throwout bearing and clutch fork. Was told clutch was an upgrade from stock, but was also the only one on hand at the time.
