My a/c comes on and blows cold but there is a loud clicking coming from the compressor. It just started doing this with a/c on.
Does this mean the oil is low in the a/c system?
What should I do the check this?
I do have a vac pump and gauge set but The system works just goes to defrost when hitting gas hard. Found one vac leak behind battery must be one more somewhere. I don't think the two problems are related.
if it is somewhat constant clicking, it might be a noise in the clutch. If it clicks once a minute or so, it might be the clutch kicking in and out with low pressure switch. Look at the clutch and see if it "stops or starts" turning when the clicking occures, or is the clicking more constant (like clutch damage or air gap/ spring).
With A/C on there is a constant click,click,click,click....... when you turn off A/C the noise stops. Noise comes from compressor. Dose this mean it needs oil added, how do you check A/C oil level/quantity??
