Ok, two things bugging me on my Ex...anyone else have these:
1. My marker light on the passenger front turn signal is out. I've discovered that the two screws are on the bottom of the light, and the bumper is too high and too close to get a screwdriver in to take the housing out. It would appear I need to drop the bumper to change a light bulb. REALLY?! Anyone else have this issue?
2. My lic. plate frame camera uses recessed bolts as a theft deterrent, meaning I need to get behind the rear bumper for the two bottom AND top bolts to put in the lock washers and nuts. The tow hitch bar is EXACTLY where I can't get up to it, and Flat Stan wouldn't be albe to get his hands up there.
The front bumper is too high. There should be enough room to get at those screws so u might want to adjust it lower. This will also allow for flexing and not have the bumper take out a light, I have seen it.
As for the back plate use a thicker screw with a fairly large head and then drill out the centre. You will need vise grips to remove, but will deter theft.

Maybe I didn't explain it right. Most use those thick screws to hold the plate in...this one uses bolts and nuts...the heads go in through the plate frame and are recessed (so you can't turn them from the outside) and nuts with lock washers go in from the back.
I can't get up behind the bumper to attach the washers and nuts - if your had is more than 1/2" thick it won't work.
Oh, and as a side story, these top bolts will also be used to mount two LED strobes, so replacing the bolts with screws isn't an option for me.

All you have to do is loosen (not remove) the four bumper mounting bolts and the bumper will drop a bit. Then you will have enough room to access the marker light screws.

I am assuming frame-to-bumper area...outboard or inboard? Never owned a Ford bigger than an Expedition...
How about the top bolt on the rear shackle, hits the top of the frame about a 1/4in from being able to remove it without having to take the bottom bolt out and remove the shackle to get it out, what's up with that?
Or the best one, those crappy steel brake lines they use to the rear that rust and rot out in no time, just changed mine and amazing it did not break on me. Broke right off as soon as I turned the wrench on it! Just amazing nobody has been killed from brake failure with those steel lines!
Oh and another one, how about the parking brake, now there is a great design...not! Took me about 2 hours to figure out how to get the shoes and springs off, to find out the operational lever system was locked up and then awhile to get the dang things back in there and attach the springs with only a 1in maybe of room, not a very good design and I am sure there are not very many operational parking brakes systems out there.

Sorry man but it goes a LOT faster if you just pull the rear hub and bearings. In and out in 45 min if you to that. I must say, I'm impressed you could actually do it without pulling the rear hub!
I can imagine and I considered it, but sure hated to pull the axle out just for that, but in the long run would have been a lot easier that way. I got it, but it wasn't easy!
