1955 Slip Yoke Problems
Hey guys I'm having trouble with my T-86 overdrive for my 55 F-100. I bought the tranny a few months back and am now getting around to installing it. Well the problem is that the slip yoke that I got for it stops dead at the bushing inside the transmission leaving 3-4 inches left hanging out. The yoke runs smoothly on the mainshaft and fits perfect on the outer seal but then stops about an inch in. I think that whoever owned the transmission before me installed a thicker bushing that doesn't allow the yoke to ride all the way in, but that's just me. What do you guys think it could be? I tried a stock 3 speed yoke and it does the same thing. I even tried one from an overdrive car and it also does the same thing. What is or should be the diameter of the bushing and the original slip yoke?
