I agree when I was looking for a truck I ran across very few short box 2wd. I ended up getting a short box with the 4x4. Short boxes themselves seem to be few and far between.
IMO, shortbeds make for sweeter street trucks. The visual proportions are just better... I think that's why 2WD SBs are less likely to be offered for sale.
SBs are for fun.. LBs are for work!!
Ever go wheeling through the forest with a longbed 4wd?... easier to get hung up and it turns like a battleship.
I do have to say the 1.5ft. less is a little better for manuvering but as somebody on here has said before "shortbeds are like new **** on your x-wife, sure they may look good but they are basically useless"

Hahaha... who ever said that must not be using any imagination!

Haha that is funny but not true at all. My truck runs 10s plus has hauled quads, dirtbikes, fence, plywood, motors, furniture, appliances etc and that is with an nos bottle and battery mounted in the bed. Not sure why the 1.5ft length deficit deems them useless. You still have 6.5ft of free space. Ive never had it be an issue. My daily driver is a sb too. If its too long you can put the tailgate down. Lowes and Home Depot aren't that far. Just saying
Then you can watch the the 2x4 go flying out the back into the prius`s windshield. But then again I guess that wouldn`t be a bad thing.
Somebody obviously doesn't know how to use tie downs
Long beds not only look "off" but the extra wheel base (especially when you have a supercab and crew cab like me) just makes them unreasonably long. I've yet to find anything I couldn't make work in a short bed.
If I can bring 20' 2x12's home in an expedition and a 15' palm tree home in a hatch back 2 door civic I can fit things in a short bed
To me a shortbed on a crew or super cab just isn`t as cool. Heck to me its just cool to have a crewcab long bed even though its sometimes a pita to park at wollyworld. Besides who want to park near the door at walmart next to the suv with a 6 year old in it just waiting to put a big ol dent in the side of your truck.
Also when hauling stuff though yes you can "make it work" in a short bed usually it just fits in a longbed.
Shortbeds pull trailers just fine too. Ive gotten to were I use trailers for most everything anymore. Even my 3500 jimmy with an 8.5' X 7' flatbed seems to be too small sometimes. Pulling a 10' utility trailer makes everything work out perfect. The short box trucks can pull the same trailer (or much larger trailer) easier and can manouver with the trailer much better. Finding a place to park with a trailer is the biggest downside.
