To me a shortbed on a crew or super cab just isn`t as cool. Heck to me its just cool to have a crewcab long bed even though its sometimes a pita to park at wollyworld. Besides who want to park near the door at walmart next to the suv with a 6 year old in it just waiting to put a big ol dent in the side of your truck.
Also when hauling stuff though yes you can "make it work" in a short bed usually it just fits in a longbed.
Long beds just do not look right to me - ESPECIALLY on a supercab or crew cab. And a short bed crew or supercab is much cooler not only because of looks, but because they are harder to find
That being said - different opinions/tastes are what makes the world go round and keep us all from driving the same exact truck. You can keep your longbeds and I'll stick to my short beds.

I agree Chase, I've only owned 1 longbed pickup in my entire life (except for a few parts trucks)........................... a '60 GMC that was my 2nd vehicle and that was in around '73 or 74.............Every one since then that I drove was a shorty....................I LOVE MY SHORTBEDS!!!!!!!!!!!

I have all three now... the 01 S'Crew has a 5.5, my 73 SB, and the newest to me 70 LB.
Visually IMO, shortbeds are better proportioned... I wanted a SB Bump but I couldn't pass up a $650 deal with 70K original miles... still on the table is to take a plasma and welder to it to make my own SB.

Thats exactly what I did. Got tired of waiting for the perfect shortbed pickup to come my way so I cut my F350 down to a (shorter than short) flatbed. The wheelbase is now 6" shorter than a shortbed pickup and 6" longer that a full size bronco.
A Longbed might let you hold an extra 18 inches of wood, but a Shortbed help's get your wood wet .
By yer avatar, looks like ya got yer wood wet one too many times!!!
.. but ya gotta be a proud papa. Them little guys pack a lotta gear... diaper bag, stroller, car seat, clothes, food..... But hey, congrats on the young'un.
If that's "making use of it" what I do with them must be considered "overloading" for sure...
Heck I can fit enough in a tacoma bed to not need a full sized longbed...
Lol I bet. That was just a track rental day with my truck and I picked up a trans and converter from a guy at the track. Went 10.75 124 and drove 70 miles home all on pump gas.
i have both sb and lb n i love all of them but my sb flairside is my favorite its just a cool lookn trk it doesnt haul much but hauls alot of a$$ w the 500hp bb lol it really doesnt matter how long ur bed is its how u use it n really doesnt matter as long as its a FORD dent side
