OK I have an 83 F350 Flatbed... I want to repaint. Here is what I am thinking..
I am a huge Allis Chalmers fan and use AC on my farms..
So thought about Allis Chalmers Persian Orange 2 for the cab, with the large b;ue diamond decals on the doors. Then gloss black bed. And either Chrome simulators for the wheels or Allis chalmers Cream wheels??
Or if you have another cool idea on color let me know!!
As I have said many times in the past, it's YOUR truck. If you like the color, do it. Does it really matter what anyone else thinks? At the end of the day, it's you that will living with it, perhaps for a long time, so your opinion is that really counts.
However, I do think it would look good, especially with the chrome simulators. Real chrome wheels would look slightly better, but the cost and upkeep just isn't worth the minor appearance improvement.
The County Road department just got rid of their 80's Ford pickups. All Federal safety Orange. Bought a almost brand new fleet four years ago. White with orange reflective stripes.
So the old Federal Orange road work trucks are being phazed out for the color white. I kind of miss them though. They were easier to see and avoid.
As for factory colors avaliable that were simular... Burnt Orange from the 70's, and Bright Caramel would look good, and not look exactly like a old retired road work machine.
But it's thier truck, do with it like they want. I had a friend that had a 1977 F-150 4x4 6" lift and he painted it Federal Safety orange and it looked awesome.
