I have a 2002 F150 with a V828A rear end that I need to replace or rebuild. Most salvage yards don't list the assy number, just the gear size and ratio. What other year trucks will fit mine?

Also, what is the difference between a V828A, V828B, V828C, and the V829 series?

 

those numbers dont meen much to most people as you said.. there are basically two axles, the smaller 8.8 and the larger 9.75 inch. Inside you get the 3.55 gears, 3.73, 4.11 or 4.56 gears.. etc.. If you have a crew cab and 5.4 V8 you get the larger 9.75 axle.. Look at the tag on the axle and see if you see the size and ratio.

 

so what are the differences between the different letter identifiers and between the 828 and the 829?
