has anyone had problems with thier fuel tanks delaminating? I posted earlier on how my truck dies and wont restart till some hours later. It has done it 3 times and only on days that Ive fueled up, dies within 5 or 7 miles. Have read up on it, seems to be a problem ? wondering if this could be my problem
its a 2005 F350 6.0l 4x4 87,500 miles After I fuel up i drive 5 or so miles, you start to feel a roughness, then no excelleration, then it dies and will not start again. Will start the next morning, dealer ship have replaced the batteries and IPR, the only other thing I know is they pressurized both the fuel and HP Oil lines and no leaks. Truck runs fine until I fuel up
Not sure what tank is on it, its at the dealership, I called and asked them to check. Fuel filters get changed every year, band of filter depends, on odd years they are ford filters because I take it in for service every 15k miles, on even years I change the filters and get them from NAPA, so right now they are napa filters, the truck id due its 90K service this summer, Im just over 87K. Right now they think either the rail mounted fuel pump or the one in the tank is quiting once it gets warm.. Im not so sure, Im in Fairbanks AK and it hasnt been much above 75 yet this year

The Napa's are will fit filters and could be the problem. It has been proven to use only filters manf. by Racor.

If they think there is a fuel pump IN the tank then you need to grab your truck and run. The fuel pump is on the inside of the frame underneath the drivers door. If you're running NAPA filters then you chance water getting to your injectors. Motorcraft/IH/RACOR (the filter manufacturer) filters have a white aquabloc membrane that keeps water out of the injectors. Having the incorrect fuel filter may very well be your problem.
Dang I really need to read to the end of these threads before I quote someone--LOL. Mark and Mike already beat me to it.

Tim, Second and third ops. are often needed to make people believers and often that's still not enough. And I also missed the part about the intank pump. Hard to believe that came from a Ford dealer. They probably have the lot boy working on it.
For some reason I was thinking it's only the cab & chassis (F450/F550) trucks that had the 44 gallon plastic tank behind the rear axle. Thanks to cheezit, learned something new
thanks for all the advice, Im stopping by the dealership after work, Ill pickup the ford filters and take the truck home and see what happens. Do you all think that its just a coinsidense that the truck dies shortly after I gas up?

Maybe. It could be that you have a tank full of trash/water too. Wouldn't be the first time I saw it happen.
Seekins (Dealeship) just called, they are working on it, said it has a plastic tank, they do not think its a fuel issue because when the truck dies there is no knocking or feeling of the engine comming apart, they think its with the HP Oil side Thoughts?
