I have a mid 70's f-250 reg cab 4x4 hi-boy, year unknown due to a cab swap by a previous owner. It has a four speed and a divorce mounted NP-203 transfer case. When I bought it the speedometer wasn't hooked up. There is a threaded hole on the transfer case output housing where the speedo would hook up, from what I have been able to find on the net there's supposed to be a fitting that goes in this hole which the speedometer threads onto which is missing. Is there also supposed to be a short shaft that runs perpendicular to the transfer case output shaft from the end of the speedo cable with the 16-21 tooth gear attached to the end? Am I way off base here? Thanks in advance for any help.
Correction, after crawling under the truck I found that I have a dana 24 transfer case. I guess these were installed in 59-72 F-250`s. The transfer case has threads where the speedometer cable is to be attached.
