i have a 182 f100 302 and the batterykeeps dying on me, i bought a braandnew battery and put it in, and it still dies, so i went and got the alternator tested and it was fine, what could be wrong here, im getting tired of charging my battery once a week every week
You have something pulling power from the battery. Chasing it down with a volt meter might take a long time. I would start with the obvious, lights, radio, and make sure all electrical switches are turning things off. I'm guessing that the truck sits for a long time between uses which is why the battery is running down? I would pull the fuse for the radio and any extra powered devices that you don't use often like seats, mirrors and then wait a week to see if it helps.
Make sure it's charging first. Measure the voltage at the battery with the truck off, and then with the truck running. Off will be around 12v, running will be 13.5-14.5 volts.
Some places can test the external voltage regulators, so be sure to ask before you just arbitrarilly replace it.
If you have a short somewhere causing the drain, using Franklin's method and pulling a single fuse out of the panel at a time can isolate the circut and narrow down the problem.
Make sure you have all of the trucks powered features shut off or Franklin's technique will not work. Unplug underhood lamps, make sure the cab dome lamp is off etc...
