i had an 08 f-450 with the 6.4 and 4:30 gears. when it ran right and i drove it easy, as you say, i would get about the same. but it when it would regenerate so often my milage went down the tubes. it left me stranded 3 times. after going round n round with ford, i traded up to an 11 f-350 dually and so far only a couple of minor things. only had 17k miles when i traded for the 11. so far 12k on the 11.

Ok boys and girls, here's my totals so far:
21810 miles
1412 gallons of diesel
15.5 average mpg (surprisingly, nearly identical to my 2000 7.3)
worst mpg 7.7 (towing 8k tt heavy head/cross wind, 65 mph)
best mpg 19.9 (empty highway trip, 50 to 55 mph, mountainous)
finally, cost to operate 21.37 cents/mile
All of this stuff is tracked on my droid phone using an app called carango.
I think all SRW KR's have 3.55 gears with 20" wheels.
