We have 10,000 miles on our 2011 Explorer and love it. I can sort of understand the comments with the Explorer because it is different, but just curious how many people have driven one, or are just going by the looks, or ??? This is our fifth Explorer (including mountaineer) with previous 1994 Explorer, 1996 Explorer Sport, 1998 Explorer, 2005 Mountaineer and then our 2011. It runs great, has lots of power, handles extremely well, runs off road great, and has a ton of room inside. The only thing I have not done yet is run it through the snow. I liked my 5.0 98 Explorer, and was my favorite until we bought the 2011. I am a truck guy, my everyday vehicle is an 05 Superduty diesel, but in my opinion, this is the best Explorer made to date.

I think the determining factor on whether its dead or not is if you can put oversize tires on without the check engine light coming on. It seems to me, even though all the trac-control hubbub probably works, it would have issues with bigger tires.
