Oil cooler cleaning

Similar to my other thread about VC-9 being a potential solution for a clogged or partially clogged EGR cooler, I'm curious if there is benefit to periodically running an engine flush product through the oil system just prior to an oil change to head off plugged oil coolers.

Thoughts?

Usually they do not clog on the oil side. the passages on the oil side of the cooler are much bigger than the coolant side. the VC-9 will remove the iron deposits/rust/ etc (boiler cleaner)

I would run fleetrite restore thru it also to keep it clean on a regular basis (coolant side only of course)

oil coolers don't plug on the oil side. They plug on the coolant side. So no running an engine flush in the oil system is not going to help any with oil cooler plugging.

I splash a can of SeaFoam in my crankcase just before an oil change. Don't really know if it does much except make me feel better.
