I have the 6.2L. I did average just over 19mpg, but like I said it was while touring YNP and never went over 45mph. At hwy speeds I have been getting 15.
There is nothing in your signature about what kind or model your truck is. Super Duty, F150, extended cab, crew cab regular cab. All that info would make a huge difference in weight and MPG's.
Most of us here are driving Super Duty's and just assume that is what you are driving, not many F-150's with the 6.2 on here, most have the ecoboost.
I have not taken the time to add a signature. I own a 2011 F-250 Crew Cab Lariat 4x4, short box, 3.73 e-locker. Golden Bronze in color.
I owned a 2007 Tundra Crew Max before this truck and I loved it but wanted a longer box. The Tundra 5.7L was very impressive. I avg 17 on the hwy with it. Lots of power. My Ford is more stable pulling my travel trailer. This truck is considerably heavier than the Tundra.
Before the Tundra I owned 4 Powerstrokes, two 7.3s and two 6.0s and never had a problem with any of them. My last 6.0 was stock and it was a pulling SOB. Although my 99' 7.3 with a Superchip was awesome. I still think the 7.3s were the best Powerstrokes. Before that I had a 7.3 with an ATS Turbo and a naturally aspirated 6.9.
Going through the Park at 45 mph (and slower) the roads are flat once you climb out of Gardiner. We pulled one pass (Dunraven), so the truck was not working hard. But, like I said I avg 15 on the hwy here in Montana with passes, wind, and rolling hills. The speed limit is 70 on 2 lanes and 75 on the Inerstate, thus they will give you 5mph over so I drive 75 and 80 respectively....and still get passed...its a big State!
I am very impressed with the truck. I love the 6 spd tranny. Its a long way from my 4spd manual with 4.10 gears and the 6.9l!
Ok, I misunderstood. You got 19 while doing 45 on flat ground but when you where on the highway it dropped to 15. That sound about right. Now the 45 was for long stretches right? Not just the little 1 milers we have in the city from light to light?
Or did you avg 19 MPG for the whole trip, which then that would put the slower speed driving around 23 MPG?
My truck just has a little over 300 miles on it now, seeing 13.3 on the mileage. I just found and ordered a cold air intake by AFE, part number (54-73116). AFE wanted $450 but I ordered it through Autoanything ( Ethan @ ext.7111) for 394.96 total. I have not had it over 72 mph yet on the interstate.
Hope this helps!
A testament for the F250's. I was coming home from work when a kid driving his mothers van ran a stop sign, never touched a brake and hit me in the drivers door. It turned my 2003 f 250 diesel almost all the way around, bent the floor pan over under the passengers seat and totaled it. I did have to have surgery on my neck which I am still getting over , but they didn't have to order me a coffin.

Reason: added a little
I don't think I've ever seen a independent Dyno test that shows an improvement from an aftermarket "cold air intake". Ironically these trucks come from the factory with a cold air intake, the aftermarket versions pull air from the engine bay.

The only thing I would like to see is to get rid of all the tumors on the air intake pipe.. probably make it alittle quieter but geez.. that intake looks ugly as sin.

I agree, I would do it solely for the appearance of a cleaner engine bay.
I got busted on the other day for necroposting on a 5 y.o. thread. I feel a little better now after seeing this one revived!
I've used K&N's in the past with no ill results, but I've never installed a CAI. I would think that a larger throttle body a/o a tb spacer (haven't seen one of those available for the 6.2L's yet) would gain you better results.
