At Wits End

Let me start by saying "I'm not a mechanic". Problem; 1985 F250 4X4 6.9L 250,000K being used as neighborhood fire truck. Last year started, ran, no problems. Rtn from deployment - would not turn over. Replaced starter and batteries; turns over but will not fire. Check filter, fuel lines, and have fuel going everywhere "I" think it should. Used starter fluid in the intake, acts like it wants to fire but doesn't. WHAT AM I MISSING????

You might post this in the pre-powerstroke forum, too.

Did you put any kind of fuel stabilizer in the tanks? It may have just gelled up in the injectors, filters, lines, etc which isn't allowing fuel to flow as it should.

Too late for the fuel stabilizer? Yes...if the fuel has already gummed everything up it won't do you any good. You will probabl need a good fuel system cleaning.
