I've searched the forum and can't find what I'm looking for. My locks on my 1997 Expy stopped working. I get nothing in lock or unlock from both door switches.
Ive checked fuse 3 under the hood and it's good. Also checked all RAP labeled fuses in the pass compartment. All of those are good also. At the drivers side switch I have no power on any of the wires. I cannot find the 3 power lock relays that I've read about. I have the kick panel removed.
Can anyone please help? TIA
Make sure your umbillical is plugged in tight under the dash by the steering column, the big one with all the wires. Seems hard to believe it could come loose, but I've had some strange things happen on vehicles.
I'm more than likely to believe its what pdqford said though...
Thanks alloro. I've got that same schematic in my Haynes book. Now that I look at it closer I wouldn't have power at the switch. Looks like the switches just complete a path to ground to tell the RAP module which relay to activate.
I looked all over under the dash and cannot find the relays. I found 1 block that has 2 in it attached to a bracket that the brake controller plug also is connected to but the wires don't look to be the correct color. Does anyone have a picture of where to find these replays?
Alright. So I found the relay bank. Holy cow is it buried. I probed the Black/White stripe wire and do not have power. Does anyone know where the wire splits for the 3 relay inputs? I checked the main connector at the firewall and it seemed tight. That is the one with the handle right? Is there maybe another connector that is between the relay bank and the power distribution block other than the firewall connector? Sorry for all of the questions but I would like to be able to lock my truck and I can't believe I can't figure this out. I usually am real good at electrical work. Thanks!
I know you said that you tested fuse #3 in the PDB (Power Distribution Box) under the hood. But with the fuse removed, does one of the recepticles have battery voltage?
If no voltage there, you may have to pull the PDB and check the bottom side of it for "green' (trademark) crud preventing contact with the buss.
Yes I did. I have voltage on the inside spade with the fuse removed. I guess I'm going to be removing the box to check the underside. Thanks for the help. I should have thought of that myself. Just because the fuse is showing power across both sides doesn't mean that the power is getting past the fuse.
