im looking for a ladder / lumber rack. problem is that i use my truck for work and have a diamond plate tool box at the front of my bed, right behind the cab and all the ladder racks ive looked at will require me to shift my tool box back at least 8 inches or more, that will kill a lot of space, not to mention how stupid it will look. do i have any other options, other than trying to make one myself.

 

Not sure if it would work, but years ago I had a ladder rack and a box on a toyota pick up. What I did was secure the rack to the bed with bolts and then drill holes thru the mounting flanges where the stakeholes are, then I took some long J hooks from home depot, drilled a hole in the box, put the bolt thru the hole I made in the ladder rack and bolted it down. It didnt move ever.
