Okay guys. I found an 85' F150 XLT a guy wants to sell or part out. He said it has a 351 or 302. How do you tell the difference? Also, I am going to try to grab the good interior parts off it and a spare bumper he said he has for the front. If the whole truck is in nice enough shape I will just buy it and take pictures and let you guys rob parts off of it real cheap. Anyways if I don't buy the whole thing any of you Tulsa Oklahoma guys who are looking for anything specific let me know and I will try to grab it for you! Later.
Quick way to ID a 351W from other W series, is measure the intake manifold width. 351W has around an 11" wide intake, while the rest of the W series has an intake in the 9.5" wide range. 351W has a taller deck hieght, therefore the intake is wider to fill the gap.
I do need a wiper motor. Mine went belly up after the last round of blizzards hit. Also, could use a better seat. Mine has broken in so many places, I'm not sure I can repair them all.
That's about all I can think of right now.
guys, I wasn't able to take pics. But, the truck is worth what he is asking. Its too much for me to handle right now. He told me I could have anything out of the interior I wanted, the wiper motor for Rogue, the XLT hub caps, and the stock under hood jack for $200. I'm going to take all the interior I can get out of it and the rest of the items. He had a straight front bumper he said he would take $30 bucks for, but it needs chrome. The bed wasn't perfect, had some good dents on top rail and rust through on the passenger side above the wheel well. Good doors, fenders, hood, glass. It wouldn't start, but it has a 351 according to Rogue's 11" measurement of the intake. It was nowhere near 9.5 like a 302. It had a decent grill with one little spot where something rubbed the plastic chrome. One good front bumper guard. Lots of good body trim and bumper rubbers. It will be a good one to pick apart.
Gary, I can come take a look at what you have also. I am going back to this guys house tomorrow to rob the interior and those other parts. I can swing by your place, pm me with your address and number and I will give you a call. Oh, and yes, its the one on CL in Owasso.
Rogue, you still want that wiper motor and seat? I didn't think to test the wiper motor, but the seat didn't look like it had sags or anything. The cover isn't much good.
RW, I am heading to Gary's place tomorrow to pick apart his parts truck. I am going to leave that other truck on CL up for grabs if you want to go take a look at it.
I'm in Sapulpa. Catoosa is about the same distance as Skiatook, but with more road contruction to deal with.......
On the other hand, I *may* be heading out to TRP (dragstrip) this weekend. Saturday the Ford/Shelby meet will be there, and on Sunday there's an autocross that I might enter with the RX7. I haven't run an autocross at TRP since I upgraded to the coilovers on the RX7, it was just a bit too rough for my old softer springs. The bumpstop action kept me fighting to keep it pointed the right way...... I only had partial success.
I've won the class championship 4 years in a row, but this year I haven't even entered a single event yet, so it's not looking too likely for a 5th title. Hard to overcome that kind of points deficet....
