ICP Pressures

Anybody have specs on what the ICP pressures should be at various RPMs? Thanks

anyones guess if your chip is on. In stock mode mine usually idles about 640. down to 580 or so sometimes. Running down the road empty usually 700 to 1500 and I don't think I've seen it go over 4000.

I would certainly hope you haven't seen it get to 4000psi... lol

There are no certain specs are various RPMs. If you have a chip, each tuner tunes the ICP differently. At idle you need about 600psi or close to it. At WOT, you want to be close to 3000psi. What's your ICP doing? Are you having problems with ICP??

That's why I said that about the chip. These tuners fudge that number and youre seeing the fudged number if the chip is on and it's an electronic gauge. I've seen it get close to 4000 in tow mode.

Recently I got a new scanner and have been playing around with it. I've always heard something about 3000psi ICP so for some reason I was under the impression that it was a constant 3000 while the engine is running, kinda like where you maintain a fuel system at 60-70psi constant. But I guess the 3000psi is only under WOT, so my graph don't look so bad then! I was just expecting to see a flat line around 3000, so when I saw 600-700 at idle it just got me wondering. I have my tuning from Bill at PHP and he said he likes to tune to 3000psi, not much more because it doesn't do much for power and it just wears out the parts faster.

My other reason for checking it out was because sometimes it takes a significant amount of cranking to fire and I was just looking into the possibility if the 15* pump was having problems building pressure to fire the 238s!

Pressure fluctuates a lot. I have a round glicerin filled gage mounted to the windshield cowling on my truck and the pressure is dependent on throttle position and load. 60 mph crusing in can be at 1200 or if pulling a hill it could go up to 2700. My truck is stock for tuning and injectors, I do have an Adrenaline HPOP, but I don't think I have quite hit 3000psi. The Adrenaline didn't affect my pressure any, my old stock 15* 200000+mile HPOP appearently was still in decent shape, but I felt the deal was good for the adrenaline and a good time to change it.

ICP fluctuates with load. Maybe 700psi at idle or coasting, up to 3000psi or so at full load. Soon as you let up on the pedal, ICP drops.

Injection pressure is based on RPM and MFD (mass fuel desired).

OBS truck programming calls for 580 at idle and 2465 under max power rating.

How did you fix the long crank to fire?

Well, if it’s 12 years old, it’s about time for it to get a job and start pulling its weight around here!
