Yes it does sound like the choke wire, not needed if you don't have the original Ford carb with the electrical assist choke.

It depends on if his truck has Ammeter and Oil Pressure gauges, or Charge and Oil indicator lights in the instrument panel.

Ammeter and oil gauges: It goes to the electric choke only.

Charge and Oil indicator lights, it goes to the voltage regulator as well as to the electric choke, and the wire "wyes" off into two directions.

The truck has oil gauge and ammeter gauge. It has a four barrel holly on it also. I believe Ford used holleys back then

Did Ford use holleys back then? I just want to make sure that wire gets in the right spot. Don't want to fry anything.

Ford used Holleys, but that does not mean the Holley on your truck is factory. Aftermarket Holleys used a 12v choke while the Ford/Holleys used a approx 8v choke. But I have heard of people using the 8v wire from the alternator on a 12v choke, so try it anyway, but your choke may be slow to pull off.
