Hello, I'm custom ordering a 2011 ecoboost fx4, leather, nav, etc... only thing I can't decide on is the color. I wanted red candy, but they don't make the paint anymore so if it ever got scratched I'd be SOL. So now I can't decide between race red and sterling gray. Has anyone experience their race red oxidizing or fading? Also, wondering if I should put 20's instead of the 18's as it's only another 400 or so dollars
Congrats! I ordered a 2011 FX4 Supercab 5.0L about a month ago myself. I ordered mine in Blue Flame. But between those two colors, personally I would go with the gray. I sure do like the way the gray looks on these trucks.
In reguards to the wheels, I personally don't really like 20's so I just kept the standered 18 inch wheels. 20's are heavier will make the truck ride rougher, and it will be more expensive to replace tires when they wear out. But its all the in matter of what floats you're boat. I say get whats looks best to you!
Between those colors I'd choose sterling grey. As for wheels...I prefer 18" wheels but I didn't care for the FX4 18s so I ordered mine with the 20s.
FWIW replacement tires for the 20s aren't priced too bad if you stick with the stock size. But if you go bigger than stock they get expensive. The 18" tires also get expensive if you go taller or wider than stock.
Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. What kind of tires do you have on that fx4, they look awesome
Thanks, they are 295/60/20 (34") Nitto Trail Grapplers.Like I said when you go taller and/or wider they get expensive real quick. They were $1396 shipped to my door.

Yeah, they make your truck look really nice though, how's the ride on them?
i vote for the sterling grey paint and the 18" wheels... i prefer to have more tire than wheel, but that's just me. i'd have chosen 16" wheels on my truck if they were available.
