Any one running Performance Distributors coils for the V10?. Good theory, they have no performance results. Don't mind the money, but would like to know if they really are an improvement.
I wonder if anyone has a dyno sheet proving this?
And not one supplied by the maker of said coils.
My old '99 had el-cheapo ebay coils installed and the truck ran great. No difference from the stockers but then that motor doesn't have enough compression to benefit from a high energy ignition.
I'm running a 5.4 V8 but did replace my COP's with Granatelli's OEM 45K voltage models---not real improvement in performance or mileage. At the time the set of 8 was $200 but OEM from stealership was just about $80 each---it made economic sense to go aftermarket. With so many outlets selling actual Ford OEM COP's for about $45 each its a toss up---I'd use Granatelli's again since they had no adverse effect and the price was right.
Of course I could have kept the exiting COP's and not gone to any additional expense too. Keep your take offs just for giggles and grins--they're handy to have around just in case...........
