i have a 1989 bronco with a 302 in it the other day i started it and the starter stayed engaged so i changed out the starter and now when i crank it over it wont start but when i let off the key it tries to run backwards im stumped ive got spark at the coil and plug wires and 40 psi at the fuel rail anyone have thought on what it might be
Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate info we can.
Start with punctuation. Read it four times before I got it all. At any rate, may we assume it started and ran right before the starter issue occurred? Check your connections. Make sure they are secure and that nothing has been crossed. If its trying to run, there is a logical reason why it won't stay running. Make sure the solenoid on the inner fender isn't the part that is "sticking". Honestly sounds like something got disconnected during the starter swap.
yea it just cranks over and when u let off the key it tries to run backwards like the timing is off. but it ran fine before this happend also every conection was checked and no loose or crossed wires were found also has new starter relay on it
