So today I got in my truck, turned it on, and drove my 35.5 miles into work... touched 100mph for a couple minutes and did my share of stop and go. ODO reads 183,642.1 miles. It drove great and nothing broke, just like yesterday, and the day before that and the day before that.
Since New years I have burned 1007.5 gallons over the past 14,077.2 miles... the engine only loses a quart of oil over a 5000 mile oil change interval, I hit a canadian goose the other day and it made a thump, and 3 of my 5 clearance lamps finally burnt out at 182,7xx.x miles... and I've never changed them before.
My A/C blows ice cold in 107 degree weather, and she stops like she's new.
When my truck has broken, you guys at FTE were here to help me. It was cool.
My truck is a Ford, it does what it needs to do and does it well. I keep stalking the forum and there is lots of negativity with odd things breaking or little quirks... I figured this forum could use some optimism
Almost 164k as a daily driver, tow vehicle, off-road toy, and everything inbetween. This truck is a work horse and she handles everything I can throw at her, whether it be towing in triple digit heat or driving through a blizzard in 4+ feet of snow. She fires right up every time with ease, and rides quieter than my girlfriend's 1/2 ton bone stock Dodge Ram
So far I've had to replace the ball joints, swaybar bushings, and replaced the seized up auto/lock hubs with manual Milemarkers. That's it! I absolutely love my F-250 SD!
Except for a really annoying exhaust leak after only 46k, pretty good id say!
Ive only had it for 10k miles and i changed the oil 2k ago with 5w-20 valvoline durablend and havent burned a drop since. Truck runs great on the highway, i typically cruise at 70 at 2k rpm and it is actually quieter inside then my dads 04 Ranger. Love my truck! except my recent city MPG drop from 11-12.5 to 9.5-10
Since new years, i have used $1209 worth of gasoline over 3466 miles. 318 gallons. average mpg since i got my truck, 11.5
During the northeasts crazy winter, my truck kicked a** in 4x4 in every storm. Pulled out tons of people and never worried about getting stuck!
Only 13,000 miles so far (1,300 towing 8K 34 ft travel trailer), and loving every minute behind the wheel of my truck. Looking forward to many, many more.
2000 F250 5.4L XLT SC SB 4x4 with 195,000, original transmission, engine, etc, never spit a spark plug, doesn't burn any oil, original exhaust manifolds and studs still in tact, no leaks anywhere, and I even drove it through Stein Mart this winter, fixed the airbags and new windshield, bumper, and bull bar, and she's running and looking perfect again, I love the 5.4 and don't see how anyone says it's under powered.

Runs just like a 99 Powerstroke should with 38,000 miles on it, perfectly....the oil is still clean after each oil change, and it'll smoke all four rear tires with ease. And the leather still smells new

Yeah, mine is an 02 with 214K on the 7.3 and the oil is still clean at each oil change.
I love this thread! I have a 97 2wd f150 extended cab, with the 5.4 and I absolutely love the truck. I pull a 31 ft travel trailer, that weighs in around 6000 lbs (no slide). My truck does great, but I am thinking of upgrading to a SD, crew cab, 4x4, with the... 5.4 v8. I think it would be a nice upgrade and I get to keep the proven motor that I really like. Plus I could go from 3.55 to 4.10 rear end
my truck could be dragging the ground in the back with weight and the 5.4 pulls strong ..btw this is almost everyday basis..i HATE my weak suspension.... about to hit the big 200,000 mile mark
