Anyone know how many cc's the heads are on the standard fe heads(early 70's 360 or 390) Just an close number not exact needed.
Also anyone used Sterling/Federal Mogul #H304P Hyperutectic pistons.
What is the compression ratio with these? Anyone have the compression height measurements on these? I found one place that says they are 9.5:1 and another that says 8.4:1
Dusted, I'll do my best here, guys my age are beginning to suffer from CRS disease ( Can't Remember ....Stuff ) but I think the C7, C8 and D2 heads most of us have are at about 70cc. And the H304P has a 1.76 pin height, correct for a 390. But it also has a bigger diameter dish than the stock piston. If you use the stock steel shim gasket, .017 thick, you'll get more compression than with the .041 thick felpro replacement. Not a huge differance, but noticeable. Without crunching numbers, I'm guessing the 8.4 is closer to the truth. 8.4 is plenty if you are going to be doing trailer puling or other truckish things....Most of my driving right now is done in a 2wd 390 powered truck with 7.8 to 1 compression. My higher compression truck ( 11 to 1 ?, CRS again.....) is parked because premium blended with AV gas is just too exspensive for everyday stuff. Whateryagonnado with this engine, anyhow ? DF
