Hi, truck is an '86 F-150 4x4 351w C6. I'm going to be rebuilding the trans very soon and I have a few questions. First, I'm going to be replacing the stock torque converter with an aftermarket one and I was wondering what the trans input shaft diameter is. Also, if I go with an aftermarket TC, will I need to get a new flexplate? If so, does anybody know what the specs on the flexplate need to be? IE, number of teeth, balancing, weight, etc.
If you go to the 5th sticky down ( 80-86 Tech tips, Tricks & Projects) on the 80-86 forum index page, you'll find a section on flywheels, flexplates, clutches etc.

Thanks a lot, I didn't know that was there.
The one question I still have that I couldn't find an answer to was will and aftermarket 11.25" torque converter bolt up to the factory flexplate? Or do I have to get an aftermarket one?
if the convertor was made for a C6 then it should bolt up to your flexplate , but to be sure it would be best to ask the company that makes the convertor !
why do you need the diameter of the shaft ?
